Kanli Kula

Description

Kanli Kula, which means "Bloody Tower" in Turkish, is one of the most significant historical landmarks of Montenegro, located in the old town of Herceg Novi. This majestic fortress was built in the 16th century during the Ottoman Empire and served as a defensive structure. Over time, Kanli Kula was also used as a prison, which gave it its grim name. Today the tower is a popular tourist attraction, offering breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding area. During the summer, it hosts many cultural events, including concerts and theater performances, making it not only a historical but also a cultural center of the city.
