Vrsacko Jezero (Vršačko jezero)

Description

The lake covers an area of about 32,000 m with an average depth of about 180 m. It receives water from two Subarctic wells. The water in the lake has a high level of mineralization, including iodine, sulfates, magnesium and calcium, which makes it similar to the water from the sanatorium of Slankamensk. The water temperature is 25°C. Despite regular cleaning, its chemical composition contributes to the development of microflora and fauna, which gives the water a cloudy and olive-green hue. The lake has healing properties due to the thermal salt water coming from a depth of 200 meters, rich in minerals. This spring, associated with the remains of the Pannonian Sea, has been feeding the lake for several decades. Instead of using this potential, silt accumulates at the bottom of the lake and microorganisms thrive, which makes the water what it is now.
